Management/Impact™ (M/I) is a 360° assessment that provides managers with insights into how they carry out their roles and responsibilities and the impact they have on people around them. M/I is designed for managers, project managers, supervisors, and others who have management responsibilities.
Internationally proven and aligned with best-practice academic and psychometric standards, M/I uses self-assessment and colleague feedback to gauge managers’ strengths and areas for development – a vital step towards ensuring their ‘fit’ with your organization’s vision, values and strategies.
The Management/Impact® (M/I) assessment from Human Synergistics is a research-based 360° feedback tool that helps managers at every level understand how their day-to-day strategies and behaviors shape the people and teams around them. Unlike generic evaluations, M/I provides targeted insights into the specific ways managers carry out their roles and the impact those choices have on motivation, collaboration, and performance.
By gathering confidential feedback from direct reports, peers, and supervisors, M/I highlights whether managers are reinforcing Constructive behaviors that strengthen engagement and innovation—or unintentionally driving defensive patterns that limit potential. It examines both the strategies managers use (e.g., directing, coaching, problem-solving) and the resulting impact styles, creating a clear link between intent, behavior, and outcome.
M/I empowers managers with actionable insights that support self-awareness, accountability, and growth. It provides a roadmap for strengthening leadership effectiveness, building trust, and cultivating healthier, more productive teams. Ultimately, M/I helps organizations ensure their managers are not only achieving results, but also creating environments where people can thrive.
How it works
M/I has two parts:
- M/I Self-Report Inventory: The manager self-assesses their management approach and the impact they’d like to have on others.
- M/I Description-by-Others Inventory: Up to 12 of the manager’s peers, higher-level managers and/or subordinates (all chosen by the manager) provide feedback on their management approach, impact and overall effectiveness.
The data collected in the surveys is processed electronically, and results and recommendations are presented to the manager in a comprehensive, confidential report. A Peak Experiences accredited practitioner then guides them through the findings and helps them to develop a strategy to close the gap between the way they’re perceived now and the manager who they want (and need) to be. The M/I surveys take 20-30 minutes to complete; they are available online and on almost any digital device, as well as in hard copy.
